 - Біографічні дані: Yan Kapranov – Doctor of Sciences (Philology), Associate Professor, Associate Professor of the Department of Ukrainian and Foreign Languages.
Yan KAPRANOV was born on June 8, 1989, in Chernihiv in a family of private entrepreneurs. In 2006, he graduated from Chernihiv Secondary School No. 17 of the Chernihiv City Council of the Chernihiv Region.
In 2010, he graduated from the Kyiv National Linguistic University, acquired a basic higher education in the field of study "Philology" and obtained the qualification of a Bachelor of Philology, an English translator. In 2011, he graduated from the Kyiv National Linguistic University, acquired a full higher education majoring in "Translation (English)" and obtained the qualifications of a Master of Philology, a Translator of English and Italian, and a Teacher.
In 2012, he entered Postgraduate Studies in the Speciality 10.02.17 – Comparative-Historical and Typological Linguistics in the Department of General and Comparative Linguistics and Modern Greek Philology at Kyiv National Linguistic University. In 2015, he defended his thesis, entitled "Principles of Dictionary Entries Construction in Etymological Sources of the English and Ukrainian Languages (based on A Comprehensive Etymological Dictionary of the English Language in 2 vol. and Етимологічного словника української мови in 7 vol.)" for obtaining the scientific degree of Candidate of Sciences (Philology). Research Supervisor – Alla Korolyova, Doctor of sciences (Philology), Professor.
In 2018, he was awarded the academic title of Associate Professor in the Department of English Philology and Translation.
In 2018, he entered Doctoral Studies in the Speciality 035 Philology in the Professor G. G. Pocheptsov Department of German and Finno-Ugric Philology at Kyiv National Linguistics University. In 2021, the scientific degree of doctor of philological sciences was awarded, Specialty 10.02.17 – Comparative-Historical and Typological Linguistics. Doctoral thesis topic: "Diachronic Interpretation and Verification of Degrees of Nostratic Languages Relationship (Case Study of Etymons *HuḲa, *wol[a], *wete, *phaħ- (~ *phǝħ-), *marV)". Scientific Consultant – Alla Korolyova, Doctor of sciences (Philology), Professor.
Since 2019, Yan KAPRANOV has been working as an expert of the National Agency for Higher Education Quality Assurance (NAQA) for conducting accreditation examinations in Specialties 14 – Secondary Education (by subject specialities), 35 – Philology. - Науковий напрямок: Cognitive Comparative- / Macrocomparative Linguistics, Corpus Linguistics, Lexicography, Nostratic Linguistics, Translation Studies.
